The Binding Energies of Small Nuclides

The smallest nuclides display an extraordinary small amount of binging energy compared to larger ones. Those smallest nuclides are H1 (proton), H2 (deuteron), helium 3, H3 (tritium). The graph shows their binding energies along with that of He4 (alpha particle) for comparison. The graph also shows the information for the neutron which has a negative binding energy (mass surplus).
